Indian hare has reddish brown upper parts mixed with black and white under parts. Color of the tail is rufous and ears are long. Length of head and body is 40-50 cm. Tail is 10 cm.

Grasses, leaves, flowers, fruit and cultivation.

| Behavior : |
Nocturnal but can be seen during day as well. Extremely shy. Can be seen in group size of 1-4. Forages in open areas and avoids heavy forest. Indian hare also feeds near human habitations. A patch of grass is used for resting during the day. It scraps the blades of grass and scoops out a hollow in it.
